Our Sustainability Policy

We are delighted that our wholesale company has been awarded the MSC chain of custody (MSC-C-53997) in October 2014 and join an exclusive club of fish suppliers awarded this prestigious status. We are able to offer a good selection of MSC approved seafood and are fully committed to offering an increasing selection of fish from sustainable sources. We pride ourselves on the relationships we have with many direct suppliers, processors and individual fisherman. We are able to constantly source seafood from every corner of the United Kingdom with buyers in many port markets and importers ensuring the best quality of exotic fish. The following information details our policy per sector:

 White Fish

The majority of our fresh cod, haddock and fresh smoked haddock are MSC approved. Halibut is sourced from the better managed Pacific fishery when in season. We are often promoting lesser known species such as Pollock and coley which provide a great sustainable alternative. We are able to offer some MSC approved coley.

 Salmon

All of our fresh and smoked salmon is superior grade Scottish or Norwegian fish. RSPCA freedom foods accredited and Shetland organic salmon is always available. Our own-brand smoked salmon supplier is BRC accredited.

 Round Fish

We are proud to promote our MSC certified whole sardines and sardine fillets from Cornwall. We are often promoting lesser known species such as gurnard, grey mullet and wrasse which provide a great sustainable alternative.

Flat Fish

We have a number of relationships with individual fisherman in East Anglia and along the South Coast. This means that the majority of our lemon sole, plaice, Dover sole, megrim and flounder are caught by ‘day boats’. Day boats, as the name suggests are smaller boats which are at sea for short amounts of time using more traditional methods of catch, resulting in a superior product and being better for the environment. Most of our Dover sole is MSC certified from Hastings.  We are often promoting lesser known species such as flounder and dab which provide a great sustainable alternative.

Shellfish

We have a number of individual suppliers who source the very best seafood from U.K waters. Our Welsh Mussels, Poole clams, Brixham crab, Native Norfolk lobster, West Mersea oysters, Dressed Cromer Crabs and Scottish langoustines are all great examples of sustainable shellfish. Our 1kg tubs of Roeless Scallops ae MSC approved.

Exotics

All of our exotic species are from accredited and approved suppliers. We only buy 100% Sri Lankan yellow fin tuna.

Frozen

All of our frozen seafood is from accredited and approved suppliers. We are able to offer MSC certified Alaskan pollock, South African hake, Royal Greenland peeled prawns, F.A.S. cod and haddock, breaded and battered cod, pollock and haddock and Cornish sardines.
